FAQs

Q: When and where are the Den meetings?
A: Each den sets the time and place for the den meetings. Some are after school and some are on the weekends. Often they take place at the Weston Scout House. Check with your scout’s den leader for time and place.

Q: My son wasn’t in the Cub Scout’s last year, can he join without having completed the previous year?
A: Scouts are welcome to join at any time of year during grades 1 - 5. Note that the 5th graders graduate to Boy Scouts in February.

Q: How much are dues, and what do they pay for?
A: Each boy pays $42/year pack 157 dues. This covers BSA registration, insurance, Boy's Life Magazine subscription, Cub Scout Handbook, Neckerchief, Pack 157 unit badge, Knox Trail Council strip and World Crest insignia. The balance helps pay for pack expenses, such as adult leader registration, training materials and fees etc.

Q: What is not covered by dues and how do we pay for it?
A: Cub Scouts in Pack 157 participate with Knox Trail Council in a single annual fund raiser — sales of Trail's End Popcorn. This is the primary source of funding for pack programs, purchasing pinewood derby cars and other pack-level activities. Participants in overnights and events typically include a per-person activity fee to cover costs.

Q: Does my son need to have a uniform?
A: Yes. Please see our uniform guide

Q: What happened to Weston’s Pack 152?
A: Pack 152 merged into Pack 157 in September 2007. The combined pack has a critical mass of scouts and active parent volunteers in all age groups.

Q: Who is my Den Leader, who is on the Pack committee?
A: Please see our spiffy Pack Committee page.
